Royal Bank of Scotland conference
CCAM, Monte Carlo

This show was unusual in that the original design, produced a whole six months before the show, remained practically unchanged from the time of it's creation, apart from some self-inflicted tweaking.

The show was lit entirely with the house rig and crew, which kept costs to a minimum. In fact, the entire lighting subhire consisted of one haze machine, which we then extravagantly decided not to use.

An ample collection of 1 and 2kW Juliat spots and Scenilux fresnels provided the mainstay of the rig, supplemented by a brace of floods and PAR64s. Automated lighting was limited to eight Martin 518 moving mirrors and twelve Martin Robocolour Pro 400s, but that was more than sufficient for what was required for the show.

Conventional kit in three basic, complementary colours was used to wash the set and stage. The set, designed by Alan Streluk made extensive use of Twinwall plastic, running in several layers between it's solid elements. These were additionally lit with floor-standing Robocolours, which gave me an excellent colour palette to play with. The effect of the Twinwall on the light was quite startling and the Roboscans were used to add varying degrees of animation to it. This set was a joy to light - no walls of plain grey flats here !
The show itself was divided into many different parts. Apart from standard conferencing there was an award show, a quiz session and some motivational speakers. This show really gave me the opportunity to create several different looks, from the understated to the outrageous. It also gave me the the chance to have a lot of fun.
