BBC Worldwide sales conference at the
Royal Bath Hotel, Bournemouth

The audience for this show were buyers for major UK retail chains. In order to make this an entertaining event, a range of TV celebrities were booked to give talks, answer questions and give interviews in between the sales presentations. The number and diversity of the presentations required a wide range of lighting looks to be created.

The only way to achieve this was with automated lighting. However, a general lack of hanging points and semi- circular ceiling made a large flown rig impractical. Therefore most of the set lighting had to come from the floor.

Groundrow units gave two basic washes. In between these were placed Robocolour 400s, which gave vertical columns of light up the set. Four MAC 500s over the stage and another eight at the front of the stage provided gobo textures and general moving light effects where required. Logos, speaker and chat positions were covered from side trusses on Manfrotto stands, using 1kW Juliat profiles.

The show was programmed and run by me, using an Avolites Pearl 2000.
